No one wins where situations become heated and confrontational. When you insist on getting everything, chances are that a lengthy conflict can ensue.
You may suddenly find that you have an uphill battle that could potentially cost more than you had bargained for.
Mediation allows the decision-making capabilities to be placed in your hands rather than that of a judge and jury. The hope with mediation is that while you may not get everything that you demand, you will be able to have a voice in what you are willing to settle with so that you are able to continue on with your life and move past obstacles.
Having worked in private practice settings, mental health agencies and in the corporate world, mediating conflict and negotiating differences is a common occurrence. My experience along with my extensive training reinforces the notion that there is no winner in all or nothing situations.
Incorporating mediation, negotiation and compromise are key components to working with couples during counseling in my practice. These tools are a major factor in navigating successful resolutions that are achieved in both professional and personal areas of conflict.
My training at The Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution meets the requirements to mediate court-referred disputes as indicated in the Texas Alternative Dispute Resolution Act § 154.052, Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code Ann.
Trained at the University of Texas Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution within the Law School by Kimberley Kovach a leader in alternative dispute resolution for over thirty-five years.
